University Sports

Training fit and fairness

Studying is a time that you consciously dedicate to your personal development. Testing one’s own limits, training teamwork skills, demonstrating leadership, planning and enjoying success, or learning from defeat – all of this can be practiced and with a lot of fun through sports. Thanks to the cooperation with the University of Mainz, EMS students have an almost inexhaustible selection of sports activities in which they can compensate for their daily mental exercise and have a clear head during stressful study phases. Our student organization also adds a lot of free-time power with diverse sporting events.

From A for American football to Z as in Zen-meditation

As EMS students, you can participate in the comprehensive university sports program of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. With more than 100 courses from different disciplines there is something for every interest: handball, hockey, pilates, fencing, climbing, rowing, golf, skiing or salsa dancing … Take advantage of this unique opportunity to try out and get to know new sports!

The contribution per semester for the required membership in the “Verein zur Förderung des Allgemeinen Hochschulsports” (Association for the Advancement of the General University Sports) of the University of Mainz e. V. currently costs 21 Euros.

The extensive and up-to-date program can be viewed approximately three weeks before the beginning of each semester (mid-April / October) here:  http://www.ahs.uni-mainz.de/download.html

Our Sports Relations Team

Sport provides a great balance to studying. The EMS students think so too! For this reason, the EMS Sports Relations Group organizes various training courses for students. Whether football, basketball, volleyball, running or cheerleading – there is something for every EMS student. Through a cooperation between the EMS and the Willigis Gymnasium in Mainz, the sports groups are able to train at the school’s gymnasium Thursday and Friday evenings. The EMS football, volleyball and basketball team as well as the cheerleading group are currently using these facilities. The Sports Relations Group is the main contact for regular training groups and the EMS participation at various sporting events. Contact: sports.relations@ems.de.

Swinging the bat where the pros hit the ball

Those who want to achieve top performance during their studies need stamina, an ideal learning environment – and the appropriate sporting balance. For students who want to increase their potential not only in the lecture hall but also on the tennis court, the EMS – as a premium partner of TSC Mainz – offers an exclusive opportunity: from Monday to Friday, EMS students can use two of the tennis courts free of charge during the summer months between 9am and 11am. During the winter months it is also possible to use or reserve the indoor tennis court for a small charge. Further information is available at studentsoffice@ems.de, registration and court reservation at sekretariat@tsc-mainz.de.

Work out directly on site

Directly in the building of the European Management School, the Fort Malakoff Park, you can take advantage of the offer of the modern MAP Sports Club. Fitness classes, strength and conditioning training are not only particularly convenient, but also at discounted rates for all EMS students.

Prove your sportsmanship at events and tournaments

The Students Organization of EMS regularly initiates sports events such as football tournaments, marathon participations and other sporting activities where you are invited to compete with other participants or to compete in a team. Maybe you have ideas for a new sporting event? Our student organization is excited about your initiative and cooperation!
