Sector knowledge and management know-how cleverly combined

You have successfully completed your first degree and are an expert in your field? Now you want to supplement your expertise with in-depth management knowledge and prepare yourself for your next career step? The Master of Arts in General Management for non-economists could be the perfect fit for you. Companies have long since recognized that they can only be successful and competitive on a long-term basis if they are diversified – especially in regard to their employee structure. For employees, this means great opportunity and challenge together: the typical career path no longer exists, important are employees who expand their expert knowledge with additional qualifications.

You have expertise and industry insights in the field of science, IT or other “non-business” areas? Round off your valuable know-how with comprehensive management skills and become an indispensable specialist for your employer or prepare yourself for leadership tasks within the company.

By choosing one of the following three specializations, you can additionally sharpen your business profile:

Marketing Management

One of the central business functions is marketing. Only through the development and implementation of a smart communication strategy as well as the clever combination and targeted use of complementary marketing and sales instruments can companies sustain their competitiveness and growth. Marketing managers work closely with company management, observe and analyze current trends and developments and can use timely measures and media in a targeted way. They plan and develop the design and marketing of brands and products and decide on strategies to build up image and customer loyalty.

Controlling and Financial Management

Company decisions based on the identification and analysis of business metrics require a comprehensive understanding of financial contexts. In the area of financial management, you will deal with analysis methods for company valuation. You will apply controlling and cost accounting instruments and work with issues of international risk management. You will be able to develop business strategies in order to increase your company value as well as assess uncertainties such as fluctuating exchange rates or international economic and political processes to manage and mitigate risk. In addition, you will deal with aspects and approaches of value-oriented corporate governance.

HRM & Leadership

Sustainable corporate management is also dependent on far-sighted and sustainable personnel management. Recruiting, selecting and promoting qualified employees has a significant impact on achieving business goals and success. Executives who are able to develop efficient organizational structures and connect them with modern corporate strategies are indispensable. During the Master’s program in General Management with a focus on Human Resource Management & Leadership, you will learn how to, in a competitive environment for the best talents, use the tools of employer branding in order to promote and motivate top executives to remain true to the company. In addition, through case studies and practical projects, you candirectly and practically implement methods of strategic personnel management or diversity management.

Fit for a career with responsibility and profile

With the Master in General Management you are well prepared for a career in mid-sized companies as well as multinational corporations. You will be able to understand companies in their respective contexts, assess how they work and analyze and interpret economic relationships. Your sharpened profile and enhanced personal skills will open up further options for working in middle or senior management positions. In addition to the practical-oriented learning content, you will also train your intercultural skills, foreign language skills as well as your leadership skillsduring your study program. You will not only know how to apply results and make strong business decisions, but you will also able to implement and enforce these decisions successfully and consistently. In addition to a variety of career and development opportunities in business, the Master’s Degree also opens up the door to continue on for a Doctorate’s Degree.
