Markets and marketing are undergoing a very dynamic change. Consumers are becoming more demanding and critical, and communication and distribution channels are becoming increasingly diverse and complex. This requires managers who are capable of identifying trends and innovations early on in order to use them profitably for their company. The Marketing Master at the EMS builds on the economics and business knowledge gained during your undergraduate studies and expands your expertise for future leadership positions in marketing. You learn to analyze markets, target groups and competitors, to shape the assortment of a company according to demand, and to control sales activities, communication measures and price instruments so that services can be successfully marketed and customers kept loyal.

With the Marketing Master you specialize in an internationally oriented Business Administration degree. In addition to a solid economic background, you will acquire essential marketing knowledge. Your lecturers are experts from the industry with an international background, providing you with first-hand and experienced knowledge for your professional career. Together, you discuss strategies that make brands globally competitive, taking into account cultural differences in markets. You learn how to handle the classic instruments of the marketing mix, including calculative and psychological methods of price development as well as the selection and acquisition of suitable distribution channels. Another important focus of the program is on innovation processes- how to find ideas for new products, evaluate their opportunities and risks, and steer the innovation process through to successful market introduction.
The master’s program at the EMS is characterized by the focus of practical implementation of theoretical knowledge. Through your business project and the business simulation game, you develop creative approaches to solving tasks in a real-world marketing environment followed by the presentation of your results. Between the second and third semester, a minimum 8-week required internship allows you to apply your acquired knowledge and gain professional experience on working methods and creativity processes. Your internship can be completed either in Germany or abroad.
When filling management positions in international marketing, so-called soft skills in addition to specialized knowledge are a must! Accordingly, the EMS places great importance on developing your personal skills throughout the study program. For example, you can expand your intercultural and social skills in courses such as International Project Management or Advanced Intercultural Team and Self-Management. In addition to English being the main language of study, you have the opportunity to learn another foreign language such as French or Spanish.
While writing your master’s thesis during the fourth semester, you have no lectures. This is your chance to add more practical or international experience to your vita. Many students choose to write their thesis with a company, for example, combining once again theory with practice. Or you can opt for an optional semester abroad at one of our worldwide partner universities.
The prerequisite for admission to the Master’s in International Business with a focus on Marketing Management is a first academic degree in economics supplemented by advanced English language skills. After the successful completion of your studies you will receive the title Master of Arts. Thus, you are free to continue your academic career with a doctoral program or directly enter into the professional world. Possible entry positions can be found, for example, in the marketing departments of international corporations or medium-sized companies. Qualified experts with international competence and management skills are in high demand at market research institutes, global network agencies and global media service.
