The specialization Human Resources is embedded in the International Business Master’s program. Essential business administration knowledge is taught as a foundation and deepened upon, and the HRM course contents are integrated from the first semester on. For example, you will learn how to build strategic, international, and sustainable HR management and how to assess the impact of HR decisions on business success.
Since tasks within human resources are closely linked to corporate governance, you are deeply involved in how companies and organizations are evolving. You will learn to recognize, analyze and change imbalances of power and discrimination in organizations.

Working with people, developing their skills and promoting their constructive cooperation require a great deal of practical experience. Therefore, the EMS offers you numerous opportunities during your studies to combine theory and practice. Our lecturers are active in the competitive economy and bring their practical experience into the lecture. In addition, you work on a real or realistic case in a business project, and through a business simulation game, you discover how your strategy developed for a personnel management task actually works. In order to be sure that you do not only develop solutions, but also convincingly communicate and enforce them, the study program reinforces and trains your personal skills, such as self- and project management. Professional experience is gained during a minimum eight weeks internship between the second and third semester – on request also abroad. Many students complete their master’s thesis in cooperation with a company and thus gain further practical experience relevance in their studies.
The master’s program with specialization in HRM & Leadership is an internationally oriented degree program, allowing you to gain a deeper insight into international business processes. Since HRM requires a secure level of English at an international level, the study language is English. In addition, numerous language courses at the EMS offer the opportunity to learn or consolidate another foreign language such as Spanish or French. You are also free to write your master’s Thesis in the fourth semester as part of a semester abroad at one of our numerous partner universities, thus further expanding your intercultural and language skills.
The admission prerequisite for the master’s in International Business HRM & Leadership is a first academic degree in economics or business administration and an advanced level of English.
