Numbers are not only an expression of entrepreneurial success, but also their foundation. Only those who can understand and interpret numbers can make the right decisions. There is almost no corporate decision in which non-financial aspects play a significant role. That is why experts in the field of financial management are not only in demand with financial service providers, such as banks, insurance companies and fund management companies, but are also required in all companies independent of sector and size.
If you want to know how modern businesses finance themselves and how to realize investment and manage projects, the financial management specialization is definitely a profitable choice for you.
As a part of the General Management degree program and starting with the 3rd semester, the specialization in Financial Management will prepare you with specialist knowledge in the area of controlling, risk management, corporate finance, corporate taxes and international accounting. You will get to know the international financial markets and their players and discuss current situations on the capital markets in your lectures. In addition, we prepare you to advise companies on growth strategies such as mergers and acquisitions. As a financial expert, you will be able to assess important corporate decisions from an economic viewpoint and set the course for success with sound potential and risk assessments.
Your bonus: In the General Management degree program, you choose two specializations. This means double expertise for double career opportunities.
Finance functions internationally. Exchange rates affect returns and borrowing costs, and the value of goods change between supply and delivery. In order for you to have a say as an expert in all respects, in addition to international study content, English training with a business focus are also part of your studies. And if you wish, you can take on an additional foreign language at the EMS.
You would like more internationality? Then you can alternatively study financial management in our degree program International Business. The main differences: Your course language is English and instead of the second specialization, your course plan includes a semester abroad at one of our worldwide partner universities.
The focus on financial management opens up a variety of career opportunities. In all companies and organizations – completely independent of sector and orientation – financial competences are required and an essential component of competitiveness and future viability. In addition, typical employers include management consultancies, accounting firms, investment companies, banks and insurance companies, which have to invest their reserves efficiently and safe for the future.
