Studying General Management

Would you like to study in order to most optimally prepare yourself for attractive management positions in the business world? But you are yet unsure of where exactly your professional interests are? How about this: during the bachelor’s degree program in General Management you acquire a broad knowledge of business administration knowledge at one of the leading business schools in Germany, which opens up numerous career paths for you without having to commit yourself early.

During the course of your studies you will learn to put strategic-conceptual thinking into practice and gain your first practical experience. You gradually develop from a generalist to a specialist and have the option of individually shaping your degree and tailoring it to your desired qualification.

Optimally qualified, individually specialized

In every management function, it is important to understand the fundamentals of business administration and economics as well as how they are intertwined. Therefore, basic subjects such as marketing, personnel management, financing, business law, statistics and many more are an essential core of your studies from the beginning on. This secures you a compact and sound management education with all the essential core competencies.

Starting in the 3rd semester, the EMS offers you various specialization options. Here you will begin to chart your future career path and dedicate yourself to your professional goals. You will choose two out of the following five specializations: Financial Management, International Management, Leadership and Human Resource ManagementMarketing Management and Business Psychology.

Would you like to combine complimentary or contrasting subject areas? Will you decide based on personal inclinations or perhaps professional challenge? Our EMS study advisors are happy to assist and inspire you when making your decision.

Your advantage through practical experience

Knowledge is valuable and only affective when applied. For this reason, we prepare you with the necessary know-how and skills in a practical manner through real projects and planning games. EMS students are able to confidently record processes, work in a solution-oriented manner and develop and implement suitable concepts. Together with partner companies, we initiate case studies and organize specialist lectures and excursions that provide you with early insights and contacts in the business world.

After the second semester you will get your first taste of professional life during a several week compulsory internship. Test where your inclinations and interests are! Our Career Service supports you in finding a suitable internship in a renowned company.

Soft-skills for strong career opportunties

Team and leadership skills are largely based on “soft” factors – the so-called soft skills. They are indispensable in order to advance professionally in a company and thus an important part of your curriculum at the EMS. Communication and discussion, self- and time management, teamwork, sales pitches and much more are a part of the personal skills development, with which we make you fit for your career path. In addition, sound foreign language training accompanies the study and rounds off your management profile.

Also in English: The study program International Business

You and your career expectations are drawn towards the international world? Then perhaps our International Business degree program is an exciting alternative. Here you will be taught comparable content primarily in English. You will also spend a semester abroad at one of our worldwide partner universities.

A wide range of career opportunities are open to you

With the General Management degree, you gain a solid foundation in economics for a successful career in positions with high responsibility such as in the management of a medium-sized enterprise where generalists are in high demand. But even a career entry in corporations or a consulting company is an option, where your chosen specialization is required. Our Career Service Department will gladly assist you in choosing the right career path.
