The European Management School takes pride in its internationality. We prepare our students for a career in global companies and professional positions abroad. This also includes the semester abroad, which is a compulsory part of the English-language degree programs.
Our network already has more than 100 partner universities worldwide and is constantly expanding. EMS employees visit educational fairs and potential universities abroad in order to make new contacts and to offer our students the widest possible range of options.
In information events organized by our International Office, you will learn what needs to be considered before a semester abroad, which documents have to be submitted and how to receive credit for study achievements at our partners.
The international orientation of the EMS also attracts students from all over the world to our campus. Of course, the International Office accompanies and advises our exchange students in all matters relating to their stay in Germany.
Spending a semester abroad – that is the dream of many students! And there are plenty of good reasons for this: get to know a new country, gain intercultural experience, deepen your language skills, expand your expertise …
At the EMS, this is not a privilege, but lived in practice. In our English-language bachelor’s programs, the entire 5th semester is planned abroad. Students of the German-language programs can take advantage of this option during an optional semester abroad, depending on their previous study achievements.
Where do you want to complete your experience abroad? At over 100 partner universities around the world, the choice is not easy. The International Office can provide you with excellent advice, as our team knows the partner universities well and can give you valuable information and tips with regard to your choices – for example, the availability of desired subjects, prerequisite language skills and how to quickly find an apartment or shared flat.
You have found your preferred partner university? Wonderful! From now on, our International Office will help you with the organization.
Additional tuition fees usually do not apply to the semester abroad. However, the cost of travel and local life often varies considerably, depending on the country and the city. You will receive comprehensive information and expert advice on the various financing options available during a semester abroad at EMS International Office.
We promote cultural diversity on our campus and, as part of our cooperation with our partner universities, we welcome students from all over the world for a semester abroad or a year of study. In order to facilitate the arrival and integrate our new students, the International Office offers numerous services.
Before the exchange we clarify the general framework in a personal study consultation. During our welcome week at the beginning of each semester, students from abroad get to know the campus and Mainz. So that there is always a contact person available after this introduction week, we offer a “Study Buddy” program. On request, we can provide our international guests with an EMS student mentor, who is readily available with advice and practical help in introducing, for example, student life or administrative procedures. Our newcomers are integrated quickly and all EMS students profit from their new and interesting international contacts.
