Extra-occupational study programs

Part-time studying is becoming increasingly important and popular. Reasons for this include, among others, changes in society and the labor market. Demographic change is causing increasing shortages of qualified specialists and executives. In addition, people work longer, while at the same time the demands on job profiles often change rapidly. Further education and lifelong learning is therefore becoming increasingly important, and one’s own initiative is becoming an essential criterion for career opportunities.

With an extra-occupational degree program, you develop your professional and personal skills, strengthen your own position in the company and open up new career paths. Often, parents also use this option to continue their education during parental leave in order to gain an academic degree.

At the EMS you can complete the Bachelor in International Management with three possible specializations as well as the Bachelor in Business Psychology.

Your path to new career opportunities

With an extra-occupational study program you acquire an academic qualification that opens up new career options. At the EMS, for example, professionals who study…

  • want to assume positions with higher management responsibility
  • want to open up new tasks
  • seek a specialization to become an expert
  • work in a professional field that is changing dynamically and requires new skills sets

Win-win situation for employees and employers

The extra-occupational study program is not only an attractive opportunity for further education from the point of view of working people, but also brings great benefits from the employer’s perspective. The work-friendly study periods enable companies to professionally develop their junior staff without downtime. In addition, they benefit directly from the newly acquired knowledge, which is incorporated into the corporate projects, as well as from the exchange of experience and networking of the employees on our campus. With regard to the shortages of qualified specialists and executives, employers have recognized the opportunity to retain their talents through on-the-job university studies, which also motivate them in the long term.

A perfect work-study balance

The part-time study program parallels your career and will help you advance. With an average of only 13 academic hours per week – usually distributed on two evenings during the week and two to three Saturdays per month – the EMS offers a work-study model that enables compatibility and a balance between private life and professional requirements.

You can apply the knowledge gained during your studies directly to your professional life. Conversely, you bring practical experience into the lectures and thus strengthen the practical relevance. Your contact with experienced lecturers as well as fellow students with different professional backgrounds makes it possible to look at study topics interdisciplinary and also expand your professional network on our campus.
