Managing people and companies successfully

Human resources has a strong position in internationally operating companies as employees are a key success factor in global competition. Employers want to fill important positions with the best talent. With growth, many and good specialists and executives have to be hired quickly. Bottlenecks in the labor market often present major obstacles and give great importance to the retention and development of existing employees. In the specialization Human Resource Management & Leadership, you gain expert knowledge for challenges in personnel management and development and learn to understand the complex relationships on an international level.

HR- und Leadership- develop and use competences

With the specialization Human Resource Management & Leadership in the English-language Bachelor’s degree program International Business, you will acquire basic human resources expertise starting with the third semester. This includes, for example, recruiting of employees, further education and personnel development, national and international labor law as well as remuneration and reward management. In your lectures, you will discuss current developments and trends, such as digital talent management, work-life balance or employer branding, which bring about fundamental changes for the occupational sector and task areas.

In the fourth semester, you will practically apply your acquired knowledge. In a business project or case studies, you have the opportunity to develop solutions for real or realistic tasks and present your results. You gain even more practical experience during your required internship in the HR department of a company.

Working with people requires soft skills

Personnel management above all means dealing with people. In addition to expertise, so-called soft skills are extremely important. In this sense, the EMS also prepares you for your role at the negotiating table with skills such as rhetoric and discussion moderation. In human resource management within the international business world, you require extensive intercultural skills – recruiting cultures differ from country to country. In addition to theoretical knowledge, you will also gain personal experience during your semester abroad at one of our worldwide partner universities. If you wish, you can also complete your compulsory internship abroad and thus deepen your intercultural skills and language abilities.

Your career in personnel management

With the international degree from the EMS and your expertise in human resources, you have excellent entry opportunities into the HR departments of global companies – both in Germany and abroad. In the SME sector, generalists, who use their expertise to manage the challenges of human resources in a holistic and international context, are in great demand. Large corporations offer you the opportunity to specialize in sub-areas of personnel management, such as diversity management or talent development. Would you like to continue your academic career? Top up your Bachelor’s degree from the EMS – with a postgraduate master’s program.
