The most important achievers of a company are the employees. Accordingly, the selection and recruitment of new workforce as well as training and personnel development are of great importance – tasks which are becoming increasingly difficult to cope with in the light of the increasing shortage of skilled workers and longer working lives. To solve this challenge, companies increasingly rely on specialized HR managers and their know-how in the field of personnel, their motivation and leadership theories.
Since employee leadership is closely related to the goal-oriented control of processes, our degree program combines human resources with topics of corporate governance.
Are you interested in economic topics, psychology and working with people? Then you will find versatile challenges in the occupational fields of corporate and human resource management. Our study program will ideally prepare you for this.
“Leadership and Human Resource Management” is a specialization within the EMS General Management degree program in which you deal with all aspects of an organization or company that have to do with personnel issues. You will learn concepts for recruiting, developing and optimally placing employees within a company as well as strategies for the goal-oriented creation of company organizations and processes. In addition to leadership theories, labor law and performance incentives as well as personnel and corporate leadership trends are also part of the curriculum. You will deal critically with your own value system and lead discussions in project groups on current topics such as corporate ethics and sustainable management. In addition, we train your social skills with special courses and seminars and prepare you for negotiations on the employer side of the job application table.
The EMS attaches great importance to practical relevance. All topics are accompanied by case studies, practice speakers and the examination of current academic models and studies. During a several-week internship, you can apply your newly acquired knowledge and gain the first valuable practical experience – a definite asset to your curriculum vitae!
Another plus when facing the competition at your future employer: At the EMS, you choose two specializations and are thus doubly well positioned for the job market. You can choose from Financial Management, Marketing Management, Business Psychology or International Management. Sharpen your expert profile according to your personal interests and professional goals.
In companies and corporations that operate worldwide, your tasks in personnel management will also relate to foreign branches or cross-border and cross-cultural employee teams. And you will be prepared for it! In addition to aligning learning content with international aspects, the EMS specifically trains your intercultural and linguistic skills to meet these challenges.
Do you want even more internationality? Then perhaps our International Business degree program is an exciting alternative for you. This program offers course contents completely in English and you have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at one of our worldwide partner universities.
Demographic change will pose major challenges for companies, especially human resources departments, over the coming decades. In order to master this, companies rely on qualified specialists. Well trained personnel will therefore be more in demand in the future than ever. In addition, no industry can do without a human resources department. With your degree you are thus excellently qualified for any type of companies or organizations as well as a variety of fields of activity. Recruiting staff is still one of the core tasks in a human resources department. However, the area of responsibility has greatly expanded in recent years. Leadership, coaching, knowledge management or employee motivation also belong to the usual range of tasks of HR managers. And when you join a temporary employment agency, HR management is even part of the business model.
